It fills my eyes with tears of joy as I write about
the institution that has shaped my life and has given me the wings to fly.
I spent 11 years of my core student life and the
best days of my life in our school, being fortunate enough to get admission in
KG2. I still remember being overjoyed and telling my father again and
again.."Baba kotto boro school".. impressed by the huge building and
school yard. Many years later I came to know that I had parallaly got selected
in a renowned enghish medium convent school located at bowbazar but my parents
decided to get me admitted in Holy Child as it was much nearer to my house and
convenient to communicate to.
I thank God from the bottom of my heart to be able
to have an opportunity to grow up under the able guidance of sisters and
teachers of Holy Child institute who devoted their life for the welfare of the
students.
I had classmates who became friends and corrected
me wherever i went wrong.I have learnt from all of you something or the other.
I remember one day I had the privilege to attend a
class in our night school...which was run to give the underprivileged students
an opportunity to study. After interacting with one of the students I understood
how fortunate I was ...as my family could afford education for me.I had done
nothing to deserve the opportunity while another girl of my age was deprived of
the same. This realisation was an enlightenment for me.
The morals and the principles that our teachers
have inculcated in us...gave us.. a strong foundation for character
formation.
The value system that we have inherited from our
school has given us the courage to fight for justice, the strength to protect
the weak, the rationale to analyse, the knowledge to empower others, the innocence
to believe in goodness, the wisdom to learn from life and most importantly a
vision to grow up with.
From our first day in school we have always learnt
to Believe in Supreme God and not to compromise with our values..till date I
feel this belief keeps me going through different situations of life especially
the difficult ones.
