Friend from School Days - Sulagna Bhattacharya

My friend Nilanjana Bhattacharyya is quite special. She was the first girl in school with whom I spoke.

We met first during the pre-class prayer in the firstday of KG-I class. I can still recall where exactly it was. Enter the school, turn immediate left, and right in front of the KG classrooms. She was taller than me and stood in front of me, and of course we never knew each other before.

As soon as prayer started, I became extremely frightened (I was really apprehensive at the "Strange" dresses worn by the Sisters and their mixed-Bengali speech), and started crying. Instantly, Nilanjana turned around and said, "Why are you crying? Don't be afraid, I'm here for you always!"

After school we lost complete touch - and later Facebook united us again. Once again, she keeps reminding me every day, how true her statement that day was. Anytime I share my joy with her, she cheers me up. Whenever I feel down or depressed, she shares my problem and makes be believe I'm not alone. She lends me her shoulder to lean upon. Each morning I wake up seeing a Good Morning cartoon or message from her.

A friend from school days. Remains forever true.
